My desire to paint is driven by a true love of nature and the arts. I am deeply inspired by the French and American Impressionists, and take great satisfaction in recording time, light and form, en plein air. I am driven to create, connect with, and reflect the natural world.
I work primarily in oils, painting outdoors in the moment, rather than from photos, trying to reflect the positive energy of nature, architecture and the universe in my work. This "en plein air" process typically starts with a charcoal sketch, evolves into a loose underpainting, builds through the interplay of light and dark forms, and culminates in refined color, linework, and subtle details as time or emotion dictates – with each painting taking on a life of its own.
Ultimately, I hope to positively inspire those around me, share my passion, continue learning, and paint on.
