Chandra Rogers

"As an artist, I love to experiment and learn, and my goal is to constantly strive to both refine my skills and try out new techniques. I paint whatever piques my interest or inspires me on any given day, and my range of subjects is infinite. It may be a beautiful scene or interesting person I encountered, design, colors, or textures I want to explore, or simply getting into my studio, listening to music, and letting my emotions flow onto my canvas. As my husband likes to put it, walking into my studio is like getting a little glimpse into my mind. I've always been a person who finds and appreciates beauty in almost everything I see. I am compelled to transfer that perception of beauty into my artwork."

My love of woodworking began as a teen when I was a constant inhabitant of my father's woodshop. I learned much of my woodworking technique from him and am proud to follow in his footsteps. I produce a variety of handmade wood items including toys, jewelry, household items and furniture.

Chandra Rogers is a contemporary painter residing in Litchfield County, CT. Her work is guided by continuous learning and a sensitivity to the way light shapes both form and feeling. Driven by an ever- evolving curiosity, Chandra views her studio as a space for discovery. Working primarily across portraiture, animal studies, landscape, and still life, Chandra explores the delicate balance between realism and expressionism-capturing the recognizable world while allowing intuition, emotion, and gesture to shape its final form. Through this blend of accuracy and expressive freedom, she reveals not just what is seen, but what is sensed.

Chandra is a member of the Washington Art Association, Kent Art Association, and Gallery 25 in New Milford, and her work has been displayed in various juried and solo shows throughout Connecticut, receiving numerous awards, most notably the Barbara Goodspeed Award, Award for Graphics, and multiple Awards of Excellence at the Kent Art Association, Honorable Mention at the Washington Art Association, and most recently Best in Show at Gallery 25 in New Milford CT.
