April 1–29, 2023 at The Barn Gallery in New Fairfield
My Life's Work
I have shown my paintings at The Barn Gallery, in New Fairfield, in what proved to be successful exhibitions, for many years. This show will feature six large, intricate watercolor still lifes, including: antiques, flowers, figures and fabric patterns. As well as my acrylic paintings of landscapes, barns, animals, and flowers.
As an artist I have been painting fine art for 40 years, and prior to this, as a designer of decorative home fashion products, in N.Y.C., while partnered with my husband, Martin Ryan, as Ryan Associates. As a fine artist I have won numerous awards at various juried shows in Connecticut and Massachusetts. My most recent award was Best In Show for A Body Of Work, at The Kent Art Association.
I grew up in the Bronx, New York, in Throggs Neck, and from the moment I could hold a crayon I was drawing, then painting. After High School at Evander Childs, I attended the Parsons School of Design and the Art Students league Of New York. I met my husband, a G.I. Bill student, in art school, in 1950, and four years later we married. We had two daughters. I free-lanced art until the girls were old enough and joined Ryan Associates, full time, where we designed: fabrics, domestic products, floor coverings, wall coverings, and dinnerware.
I am now 90 years of age and still painting. I am a member of Gallery 25 in New Milford, at the Railroad Station.
The Barn Gallery is located at 82 CT-37, New Fairfield, CT. Meet the artist during the reception on April 15 from 2 to 4 pm. All are welcome.
